What is Recirculated Air?

Recirculated air is the practice of moving previously cooled or heated air around a confined environment, such as a building, vehicle, or aircraft. This technique is used to reduce energy consumption and keep the inside of enclosed spaces at a consistent temperature. Although recirculated air is an efficient method for lowering energy expenditures and keeping interior temperatures tolerable, if it is not properly maintained, it may also present health problems.

How Recirculated Air Works

HVAC systems in buildings typically provide recirculated air. Filters and air handling equipment are used to circulate the air once it is taken from the inside of the structure. The system enhances the interior air quality by removing contaminants including dust, allergies, and other particles. The air is either heated or cooled and then recirculated.

Reusing previously conditioned air can save energy expenses, but it can also cause a build-up of impurities, such as carbon dioxide, which can be hazardous to one’s health. Carbon dioxide concentrations can become too high in structures with inadequate ventilation systems, causing headaches, vertigo, and nausea. It is crucial to make sure that the HVAC system is properly maintained by a professional HVAC technician, and that fresh air is routinely supplied into the building in order to prevent these problems.

Other Places Where Recirculated Air is Used

Recirculated air is not only used in some buildings but also in other places where air needs to be ventilated to stay fresh and clean. Other common areas where recirculated air is used include:

Motor Vehicles: Recirculated air is frequently utilized in motor vehicles to save energy use and maintain a steady temperature. Recirculating air in cars, however, can also result in the accumulation of impurities like carbon dioxide, which is why it’s important to have your car’s air conditioner cleaned and maintained regularly.

Airplanes: Recirculated air is used to save energy and keep the cabin of airplanes at a suitable temperature. HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters, which can remove 99.97% of airborne particles, including viruses, are typically used in aircraft.

All in all, recirculated air is a good way to save energy expenses overall while keeping the indoor environment comfortable. In order to prevent the complications such as the transmission of infectious illnesses, however, it’s crucial to keep the HVAC system in good working order so that fresh air is frequently delivered into the enclosed space. For any repairs or upkeep on your system, always seek the advice of a qualified HVAC specialist. A professional HVAC technician will have the necessary licensing and expertise to work with your system in a safe manner.
