Why ductwork matters in South Florida
This is the most overlooked problem in our market. Around 85 percent of the homes we evaluate that were built or ducted in the R-22 era have duct systems sized wrong for a modern high-efficiency system. Today’s equipment moves air differently than the systems those ducts were designed around, so a brand-new unit attached to old, undersized ducts is strangled from its first day. Add Florida attics that hit 130 degrees, where every duct leak sucks in superheated air, and ducts routinely explain the hot room, the high bill, and the system that never seems to shut off.
