Airflow is the volume of air your system moves: pulled from the house through the return, pushed across the cold coil, and delivered back through the supply vents. Cooling is really a transfer job. Refrigerant carries the heat, but air is what delivers comfort to the rooms, so a system with poor airflow underperforms no matter how new or expensive the equipment is.
Why airflow matters in South Florida
Every air conditioner has a designed airflow target, usually around 400 cubic feet per minute per ton of cooling. Fall short and the coil runs too cold, the system struggles to dehumidify evenly, and in bad cases the coil freezes into a block of ice. Around 85 percent of the homes we see that were ducted in the R-22 era have duct systems sized wrong for a modern system, which quietly strangles airflow from day one.
Signs of an airflow problem
- Some rooms cool fine while others stay warm.
- Vents that barely push air even though the system is running.
- A system that runs constantly on hot afternoons without catching up.
- Ice on the refrigerant lines or the indoor coil.

Airflow is measurable, not a matter of opinion. We check the filter, the coil, the blower, and the duct system, and we measure static pressure to see what the blower is fighting against. That is why a duct evaluation comes standard with our replacements: dropping a new system onto a starved duct system just gives you a new starved system.
